Responsibilities

Summary


The Quality Control Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that customer specifications are met through meticulous visual and gauge-based inspections of molded and printed finished products.

Data regarding attributes and variables is collected to assess compliance with established quality standards.

Additionally, safety, quality, and food safety practices are monitored, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, good manufacturing practices, and established procedures.


This role involves communicating any deviations from quality standards and trends that may lead to non-conformance to relevant team members, including supervisors and managers, in a timely manner to facilitate corrective actions.


The Quality Control Specialist is empowered to enforce corrective measures, place materials on hold, determine materials for scrapping, and halt production processes as necessary.

Essential Functions and Duties

Molding Inspection:
Collect samples from the production area.

Conduct variable inspections to gather metrology data such as size, weight, thickness, or opacity.


Perform attribute inspections against established standards to identify the presence or absence of physical, visual, or functional characteristics or defects.

Examples include identifying holes, deformation, contamination, and damage.

Printing Inspection:
Approve new jobs following changeovers.

Conduct variable inspections to measure surface pretreatment levels and colorimetry.


Perform attribute inspections against established standards to identify the presence or absence of physical, visual, or functional characteristics or defects.

Examples include ink color accuracy, density, image precision, and proper packaging.

Assist in setting standards and creating visual reference guides.

General:


Conduct rounds on the production floor, observing and inspecting product quality, process capability, and compliance with all applicable requirements, including safety, food safety, and good manufacturing practices.

Document inspection results in the appropriate systems.

Identify quality issues based on observations and inspections.


Communicate quality concerns, including potential non-conformities and deviations from standards, to the relevant operators and technical personnel for resolution.


Perform containment actions on potentially non-conforming materials:
Identify the scope of the concern.

Place materials on hold in the appropriate system.

Manage non-conforming materials promptly when possible.

Communicate actions to relevant personnel.

Document all actions taken.


Interrupt production if product quality fails to meet established standards and cannot be adequately managed through containment or disposition activities.


Complete reports and documentation accurately and promptly, including quality assurance notifications and end-of-shift reports.


Engage in communication regarding concerns and activities with coworkers, supervision, and management across shifts to ensure visibility and acknowledgment of quality issues.
