Position Summary

We are seeking a Firearms and Tactics Instructor to oversee training initiatives. In this role, you will assess training needs, facilitate both classroom and field training for security personnel, and manage associated administrative tasks while supporting protective operations as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver training to protective force personnel on safeguarding LLNL assets, including scheduling and executing comprehensive field training sessions.
  • Develop and innovate training methodologies, lesson plans, and procedures.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance program delivery.
  • Research security training requirements and propose enhancements to operational readiness.
  • Conduct self-assessments to identify and rectify any training deficiencies.
  • Assess training equipment needs and recommend cost-effective solutions to optimize training efficiency and safety.
  • Coordinate and evaluate training aligned with protective force requirements, utilizing established task lists.
  • Collaborate with instructional design specialists to support job analysis and serve as a subject-matter expert.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
  • Minimum age of 21 at the time of hire.
  • Associate's degree in a security-related discipline with two years of experience as a DOE Security Police Officer or equivalent.
  • Ability to successfully complete required medical evaluations and training courses.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of protective force operations and individual/team tactics.
  • Experience in training coordination and leading instructional activities.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience in identifying solutions to challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in various firearms and tactical training programs.
  • Experience in a supervisory role within security operations.
  • Proven track record of team leadership and motivation.
