Job Overview

Position: ACT Team Psychiatrist - Part Time

As a key member of our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) multidisciplinary team, your primary responsibilities will include delivering clinical consultation and treatment for individuals requiring mental health and substance use support. You will conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, assess physical health needs, facilitate referrals to community healthcare providers, and oversee medication management in collaboration with the psychiatric nursing staff.

This role is essential to our mission in serving the community.


Work Schedule

Part-Time - 16 hours per week.

Compensation

Starting pay is $185.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess individuals in crisis for ongoing psychiatric services.
  • Deliver high-quality psychiatric care, including evaluations and medication management.
  • Provide psychiatric support for individuals with complex mental health conditions, including severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
  • Conduct physical examinations and emergency medical interventions as necessary.
  • Adhere to all regulations set forth by the NC Medical Board to maintain licensure.
  • Follow SouthLight's compliance and credentialing policies related to medical and ethical standards.
  • Engage in daily ACT team meetings during scheduled workdays.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatric Residency Program.
  • Board Eligible or Board-Certified Psychiatrist with experience in diagnosing and treating mental health and co-occurring disorders.
  • Familiarity with Federal and State Regulations regarding Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Must be enrolled as a provider in good standing with the Division of Medical Assistance and possess one of the following:
    • Certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligibility for certification (MD or DO) with a valid North Carolina license.
    • A North Carolina licensed physician with ABPN certification if only providing substance abuse services.
  • ASAM training/certification is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of the North Carolina Controlled Substance Abuse Registry.
  • Understanding of CARF standards and relevant federal and state laws governing medical and behavioral health care.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
