Position: Psychiatrist for Assertive Community Treatment

As a vital member of our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) multidisciplinary team, your role will encompass delivering clinical insights and therapeutic interventions for individuals requiring mental health and substance use support. This includes conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, identifying physical health needs, facilitating referrals to community healthcare providers, and overseeing medication management alongside the psychiatric nursing staff.

This position is crucial to our operations in the community.


Work Schedule

Part-Time - 16 hours weekly.

Compensation

Starting compensation is $185.00 per hour, contingent upon experience.

Key Responsibilities of the ACT Team Psychiatrist

  • Assess individuals in crisis for treatment and ongoing psychiatric care.
  • Deliver high-quality psychiatric services within the community, including but not limited to evaluations and medication management.
  • Provide psychiatric care for individuals with complex mental health conditions, including severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
  • Conduct physical examinations and emergency medical interventions as necessary.
  • Adhere to all regulations set forth by the NC Medical Board to maintain licensure.
  • Follow SouthLight's Compliance, Credentialing, and HR policies concerning any filings with the NC Medical Board, ethics committees, or malpractice claims.
  • Engage in ACT team meetings on scheduled workdays.

Qualifications for the ACT Team Psychiatrist

Education and Experience

  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatric Residency Program.
  • Board Eligible or Board-Certified Psychiatrist with experience in diagnosing and treating mental health and co-occurring conditions.
  • Familiarity with Federal and State Regulations regarding Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment.

Licensure and Certifications

  • The Psychiatrist must be enrolled as a provider in good standing with the Division of Medical Assistance and hold one of the following:
    • Certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligibility as a psychiatrist (MD or DO) licensed in North Carolina; or
    • A physician licensed in North Carolina with ABPN certification if the agency provides only substance abuse services.
  • ASAM training/certification is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Familiarity with the North Carolina Controlled Substance Abuse Registry.
  • Understanding of CARF standards and all relevant federal and state laws pertaining to medical and clinical behavioral health care.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
