The Finance Operations Manager will oversee critical accounting and finance functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance while contributing to strategic financial planning and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

This position encompasses essential functions and requirements that are pivotal to our financial operations. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
  • Execute accounting transactions to uphold the integrity of the general ledger, including journal entries, transaction processing, invoicing, and monthly reconciliations. Ensure the correct classification and coding of transactions by reviewing the work of team members.
  • Oversee the month-end closing process and prepare reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
  • Manage daily accounting activities:
    • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Accounts Payable, Receivables, and Payroll processes, providing guidance and support to staff as needed.
    • Handle payroll and payroll tax reporting, including research and reconciliation.
    • Generate monthly revenue and operating expense reports, comparing them to budgeted figures, and analyze variances.
    • Supervise all activities related to general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with year-end processes:
    • Oversee the 1099 filing process.
    • Manage expense reporting systems and procedures.
    • Participate in interim and annual audits by preparing necessary documentation for external auditors.
    • Prepare work papers for 990 filings and corporate/state charitable submissions.
    • Support the annual budgeting process and conduct financial analysis.
    • Manage general liability insurance processes, including applications and payment tracking.
    • Collaborate with staff to issue annual scholarships and maintain scholarship accounts.
    • Update accounting procedures as required.
    • Recommend and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Coordinate with software vendors to maintain and enhance accounting software systems.
Qualifications:

We seek a detail-oriented and strategically focused Finance Operations Manager to join our finance team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable, Receivables, payroll, month-end closing, financial statement preparation, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Experience in not-for-profit accounting is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with grant accounting and financial reporting is a plus.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and decisions.
  • Proficient in technology use, including the Windows Office Suite and accounting software; experience with MIP Non-Profit Fund Accounting is beneficial.
  • Reliability and trustworthiness in handling confidential information are critical.
  • Strong project management, organizational skills, and attention to detail are required.
  • Capability to present financial information to non-financial audiences effectively.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
