Wire Processing Technician

Shift: 6:50pm - 7:00am
Compensation: $19.37 – $20.61
Job ResponsibilitiesThe Wire Processing Technician is an entry-level position focused on the rewinding of materials to specified lengths while conducting spark tests. Key responsibilities include:
- Rewinding materials to meet specified package lengths.
- Ensuring proper settings on spark-testing equipment.
- Accurately tagging and packaging products.
- Producing high-quality products in accordance with established specifications.
- Performing necessary painting, print removal, or reprinting during the rewinding process.
- Addressing defects by creating quality patches on materials as needed.
- Stripping insulation from scrap wire.
- Completing additional tasks as assigned.
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English; bilingual skills in Spanish are advantageous.
- The ability to stand and lift heavy loads for extended periods.
- Strong adherence to instructions and safety protocols.
- The capability to lift up to 45 lbs.
Employees will have the opportunity to cross-train on various equipment within their designated workgroup. Once proficient in more complex tasks, individuals may be called upon to fill in during absences or vacancies. Regular rotation within the workgroup will be required to maintain skill proficiency.
Quality AssuranceQuality is paramount; therefore, employees must:
- Ensure that products are not released until all quality checks are completed.
- Conduct quality checks as per process procedures and perform minor maintenance as necessary.
- Report any quality issues immediately to the supervisor or quality manager.
- Utilize the company's ISO Quality System documentation to guide daily quality activities.
Safety is a fundamental aspect of employment. Employees are expected to:
- Adhere to Southwire safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Review Job Hazard Analyses and Safety Data Sheets relevant to assigned tasks.
- Maintain work areas according to 5S standards.
- Conduct pre-operation safety inspections and hazard analyses.
- Comply with all environmental rules and procedures to minimize impact.
This role requires the ability to work in varying temperature conditions typical of a prefabricated building without climate control. Daily physical activities include:
- Balancing, climbing, and kneeling.
- Lifting, pulling, pushing, and reaching.
- Repetitive motions, standing, walking, and sitting.
