Position Overview

The Electrical Design Engineer plays a crucial role within the organization. This individual must excel in collaboration, working effectively with clients, team members, and other professionals to generate precise engineering documentation and drawings. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis of electrical systems, including primary and backup power systems, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive construction documents for power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
  • Collaborate with in-house and external specialists to provide electrical support for various low-voltage systems, including technology, security, and controls.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, such as architecture and mechanical engineering, to address equipment power and control requirements and to size electrical distribution appropriately.
  • Perform design calculations to determine electrical loads and select suitable distribution equipment.
  • Develop one-line diagrams for electrical systems.
  • Conduct field verification of existing systems for renovation projects.
  • Draft and revise specifications to align with project needs.
  • Engage with manufacturer representatives to explore solutions for specific applications.
  • Prepare design deliverables for various owner-required submissions, including SD, DD, and CD level documents.
  • Manage project construction administration tasks, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, preparing bulletins, and conducting field visits for installation verification.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and relevant authorities as required by project demands.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Systems.
  • Proficient in design and analysis software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Easypower.
  • Solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), State Energy Code, NFPA guidelines, and FGI guidelines.
  • Experience with electrical system studies, including short circuit analysis, over-current device coordination, and Arc Flash Hazard analysis per NFPA 70E.
  • Familiarity with standard construction practices and the ability to collaborate with contractors to resolve construction-related issues.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in designing for Healthcare, Commercial, Public Sector, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
  • PE or EIT certification is preferred.
