Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Danbury Hospital. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic radiographs of patients while maintaining patient safety. You will also provide clinical instruction to prospective Radiologic Technologist students and assist in evaluating students' ability to perform procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients, introduce yourself, and check patient identification.
  • Review patient scripts and Cerner requisitions to ensure the appropriate exam is being performed.
  • Acquire appropriate history from patients that is pertinent to the exam being performed.
  • Explain procedures and answer any questions patients have regarding the test.
  • Follow department protocol for exams and ensure the safety and comfort of patients.
  • Shield patients according to department protocol and follow ALARA standards.
  • Produce and review high-quality x-rays for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Interact professionally with patients and families.
  • Attend annual hospital review and departmental in-services meetings. Practice medicine and surgical aseptic procedures. Assist Radiologists with invasive procedures. Work well with other modalities to provide complete patient care.
  • May provide clinical instruction to prospective radiographers to instill duties of a radiologic technologist in a health care facility. May evaluate a student's ability to perform procedures and ensure the student attains objectives of each competency.
  • Maintain medical imaging records in appropriate systems and in accordance with department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clinical competency and demonstrate proficiency to work in assigned patient care areas.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • BLS, CT State RT License or New Graduates under CT Temporary Practice Provisions, Valid ARRT, Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license.
  • Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
  • Experience with patient care in a radiology setting.
Working Conditions

This position requires manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity. The occupational risk is significant, and the physical effort is very heavy, requiring exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. The physical environment includes some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
