Job Title: Simulation Center Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Simulation Center Manager to join our team at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the simulation center, ensuring that all simulation equipment and supplies are properly maintained and utilized to support the educational and research needs of our faculty and students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement simulation-based clinical education activities and scenarios.
  • Coordinate and supervise the general operation of the simulation center to provide a wide variety of patient and clinical simulation experiences.
  • Act as the primary contact for scheduling all simulation activities and ensure that all necessary resources are available.
  • Oversee the regular maintenance of all simulation equipment, including human patient simulators, audiovisual and debriefing systems, and surgical simulators.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to ensure optimal maintenance, repair, and updates for the equipment and technology.
  • Provide technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals, including beds, examination tables, patient monitors, and medication dispensing systems.
  • Organize and restock simulation laboratory supplies and ensure that the laboratory areas meet regulation and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty from the departments of Pharmacy Practice & Administration, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant to develop and implement simulation experiences that meet the program and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in faculty and department meetings to assist with the development and implementation of simulation experiences.
  • Coordinate training for all users of the simulation laboratory, including faculty and students.
  • Provide reports to the Director of Assessment as requested and network with other lab/simulation coordinators to develop and utilize best practices.
Requirements:
  • Clinical knowledge and experience working in a healthcare-related field, such as EMT, paramedic, or other allied health professional certification and training.
  • Combination of education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of this position.
  • Two years of experience in healthcare simulation as an educator, coordinator, or simulation technician, or two years of full-time teaching experience in a healthcare program.
  • Demonstrated experience with audiovisual and technical systems acquired through one year of formal education and/or related experience.
  • A high degree of comfort with computer technology, including experience supporting and troubleshooting audiovisual systems and providing technical support in networking, computer hardware, or software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS in an appropriate field.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • CAE and Learning Space experience.
  • Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
