About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the Analytics pillar within Confluent's Storage, Processing, and Analytics (SPA) organization. This critical role will drive the development and innovation of our analytics capabilities, ensuring that our products empower customers to derive insights and make data-driven decisions at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Analytics pillar, aligning with Confluent's overall business objectives.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation to delivery, ensuring robust, scalable, and reliable analytics solutions.
  • Lead the development of real-time analytics solutions leveraging Confluent's streaming platform, ensuring low-latency data processing and actionable insights.
  • Oversee the implementation of batch query processing capabilities using FlinkSQL, optimizing for performance and scalability in data-intensive environments.
  • Integrate AI and machine learning capabilities into Confluent's data processing offerings, enabling advanced analytics and predictive capabilities.
  • Drive the integration of analytics solutions with columnar store technologies, optimizing data retrieval and storage for analytical workloads.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Design, and other engineering pillars to define and execute on product roadmaps.
  • Champion engineering best practices, architectural design, and technical decision-making within the Analytics pillar.
  • Establish and monitor key metrics and performance indicators to ensure operational efficiency and delivery excellence.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success teams to understand customer needs and feedback, incorporating insights into product development.

Requirements:
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams in building complex, scalable analytics solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and growing engineering teams, with a strong focus on mentorship and talent development.
  • Ability to formulate and execute on strategic initiatives, with a deep understanding of market trends and customer requirements.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, driving alignment and achieving shared goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
