Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team in Washington DC.
Job Summary:
The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing the planning and design stages of construction projects, contributing technical expertise to project drawings and designs, and performing cost calculations and preparing financial projections.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the planning and design stages of construction projects.
- Contribute technical expertise to project drawings and designs.
- Perform cost calculations and prepare financial projections.
- Prepare work schedules in collaboration with the project manager.
- Liaise between contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Oversee construction engineering processes.
- Perform regular tests on materials and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Ensure that the construction project is completed on time and within budget.
- Document processes and keep detailed construction logs.
- Presentation of construction project progress updates to clients and senior managers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, or similar.
- State-approved license.
- At least 2 years experience as a construction engineer in the relevant field of specialization.
- Advance proficiency in construction management software, such as Build Smart and Smartsheet.
- In-depth knowledge of construction industry regulations.
- Exceptional leadership, project management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Great mathematical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders.
- Availability to visit the construction site outside of business hours, when relevant.
Work Environment:
The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No supervisory responsibilities.
Additional Qualifying Factors:
- As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
- BSNC gives hiring, promotion, training, and retention preference to BSNC shareholders, shareholder descendants and shareholder spouses who meet the minimum qualifications for the job.
