About the Role

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a highly motivated Senior Design Engineer to join our team of experts in process mechanical design for water and wastewater treatment facilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on various projects, collaborate with senior technical staff, and enjoy a supportive environment centered on balance and belonging.

As a key member of our Design Services group, you will be responsible for preparing engineering drawings, calculations, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), specifications, and technical reports for municipal water and wastewater projects. Your tasks will include managing design tasks as a process mechanical task lead on small to midsize projects, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting projects both locally and nationally.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and execute engineering designs for water and environmental projects, including wastewater treatment, water treatment, advanced treatment, and pumping and conveyance systems.
  2. Lead design teams and coordinate with other disciplines to complete construction documents, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  3. Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and electronic deliverables, showcasing your expertise in process mechanical design.
  4. Mentor less experienced engineers, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their careers.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
  2. P.E. certification/registration in Mechanical, Environmental, or Civil in good standing, or the ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of experience designing water and wastewater projects and preparing construction documents.
  4. Strong research and problem-solving skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  5. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Teams, Access, and Outlook.

The estimated salary range for this position is $128,000 - $174,000, depending on location and qualifications.
