Position Overview

Job Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse I delivers expert nursing care through proficient assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in line with facility or departmental policies, procedures, and protocols under the guidance of the nursing leadership. This role also contributes to maintaining a secure work environment and ensures all job responsibilities are performed safely. The nurse is expected to uphold clinical and professional competence appropriate to the patient demographics served.
Key Responsibilities
- Gathers relevant data concerning the healthcare consumer's health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data to identify actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues.
- Establishes expected outcomes for a personalized plan tailored to the healthcare consumer or situation.
- Creates a plan that outlines strategies to achieve expected, measurable outcomes.
- Executes the established plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and ensure a safe environment.
- Delegates care responsibilities to appropriate healthcare personnel in accordance with applicable legal or policy standards.
- Assesses progress towards achieving goals and outcomes.
- Practices in a manner that aligns with principles of cultural diversity and inclusion.
- Communicates effectively across all areas of practice.
- Collaborates with healthcare consumers and other key stakeholders in nursing practice.
- Demonstrates leadership within the professional practice environment and the nursing profession.
- Integrates evidence and research findings into nursing practice.
- Contributes to the advancement of quality nursing practice.
- Evaluates personal and peer nursing practices against professional standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
- Utilizes appropriate resources to plan, deliver, and sustain evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and fiscally responsible.
- Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
- Upholds ethical standards in practice.
- Encourages shared governance and participates in facility decision-making processes, fostering research to positively impact clinical outcomes.
Physical Requirements
This position requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. The ability to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies is essential. Proficiency in English is required. Candidates must possess intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch, along with finger dexterity. Critical thinking skills and the ability to concentrate are necessary. Quick responsiveness to changes in patient and/or unit conditions is required. Physical abilities testing is mandatory.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Current Basic Life Support certification is required as per policy guidelines. A current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of practice is necessary; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as the primary state of residency, the candidate must meet the licensure requirements of their home state; for Non-National License Compact states, a current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner is required in the state where the RN practices.
