Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse I delivers expert nursing care through proficient assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in line with facility or departmental policies, procedures, and protocols under the guidance of the nursing leadership. This role is vital in ensuring a safe working environment and executing all job responsibilities safely. The nurse maintains clinical and professional competence relevant to the patient population served.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather data relevant to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation at hand. Analyze the assessment data to identify actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues.
  • Establish expected outcomes for a personalized plan tailored to the healthcare consumer or the situation.
  • Formulate a plan that outlines strategies to achieve expected, measurable outcomes.
  • Execute the established plan, coordinate care delivery, and implement strategies to promote health and ensure a safe environment.
  • Delegate care responsibilities to appropriate healthcare personnel in accordance with applicable legal or policy guidelines.
  • Assess progress towards achieving goals and outcomes.
  • Practice in a manner that aligns with principles of cultural diversity and inclusion.
  • Communicate effectively across all areas of practice.
  • Collaborate with healthcare consumers and other key stakeholders in nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate leadership within the professional practice setting and the nursing profession.
  • Incorporate evidence and research findings into practice.
  • Contribute to the advancement of quality nursing practice.
  • Evaluate personal and peer nursing practices against professional standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Utilize appropriate resources to plan, deliver, and maintain evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
  • Practice in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
  • Uphold ethical standards in practice.
  • Encourage shared governance and participate in facility decision-making activities, fostering research to positively influence clinical outcomes.

Physical Requirements
This role requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be capable of lifting and supporting up to 35 pounds while handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English is required. Must possess intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch, along with finger dexterity. Critical thinking skills and the ability to concentrate are essential. Must be able to respond promptly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical Abilities Testing is required.

Education, Experience, and Certifications
Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Current Basic Life Support certification is required per policy guidelines. A current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of practice is mandatory; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as the primary state of residency, must meet the licensure requirements of the home state; for Non-National License Compact states, a current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner is required in the state of practice.
