Senior Planner Job Description

As a Senior Planner with the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our community. Your expertise in urban design, land use, and community development will be instrumental in guiding our growth and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead comprehensive plans, small area plans, and corridor plans to ensure sustainable development and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop transportation plans, parks and recreation plans, and utility plans.
  • Facilitate community outreach events, public hearings, and workshops to engage with stakeholders and residents.
  • Implement policy updates and review annexation and rezoning petitions to ensure compliance with our Comprehensive Plan.
  • Assist in the implementation of the Town Council's strategic plan initiatives for the Development Services Department.
  • Maintain demographic statistical data, analyses, reports, and graphics to inform decision-making.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide direction to direct report team members.
