Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Media Planner/Buyer to help lead our traditional media team. The Senior Media Planner/Buyer will plan and purchase advertising space, including OTT, streaming audio, television, radio, print and outdoor. You will be required to analyze and interpret market analytics, determine the optimal media mix and placement for advertising campaigns, and negotiate and procure the desired advertising space and media placements. You will be working with B2B and B2C clients in a wide variety of industries locally and regionally. You will need to possess a thorough understanding of Freewheel (formerly Strata) and assist the team with creating and actualizing media flowcharts and creating presentation slides for planning meetings and presentations. You will also mentor and develop our junior level media planner/buyers.

You will play an important role in our media billing process overseeing the checking of media invoices and working with media representatives to settle discrepancies. You will also help track spot fallout and monitor all buys. You will work closely with a team of strategists, planners, buyers and accountants and have the ability to grow within the department.


To ensure success as a senior media planner and buyer, you should be a team player, highly detail-oriented, possess a good understanding of marketing principles, and have experience interpreting analytics. A top-notch candidate should be a strategic thinker and have the ability to secure advertising space that ensures the maximum ROI as it pertains to campaign goals.


Your ability to work well with others and develop an effective team will be important. You will assist the Integrated Media Director with reviews of junior level media employees. In addition, your input into improving current processes will help develop the department for the future.


Responsibilities:

·        Use customized project management system to communicate with account services team.

·        Conduct market research and analyze demographics, media usage, psychographic profiles and buying patterns to reach the target audience and meet campaign requirements.

·        Develop advertising strategies with Integrated Media Director, account service team, and the digital team to create media campaigns which will most effectively reach the desired audience.

·        Prepare and manage budgets and monitor campaign costs and ROI metrics.

·        Negotiate the best pricing for our clients, leveraging our buying power for the most efficient media buys.

·        Actualize media flowcharts after flights run, comparing placed media with actualized buys as well as conduct formal post buys.

·        Update media schedules based on media request dates for pre-placed buys.

·        Request reporting and track campaign performance.

·        Be a student of up-and-coming media strategies

·        Track and present campaign data

·        Work with Integrated Media Director on new business presentations with cutting edge strategies and creative media ideas

·        Create and present media plans and campaign flowcharts to current and potential clients.

·        Build and maintain a network of advertising media partners and networks.

·        Monitor audience and media trends, practices, and new technologies.


Skills & Requirements:

·        Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, communications or related field.

·        Minimum of 5 years of experience as a media planner/buyer.

·        Experience working with media software and programs such as Scarborough, Prime Lingo, MRI, Comscore, Nielsen, SQAD and Freewheel.

·        A strong understanding of media analytics tools such as Nielsen and Comscore.

·        Strong computer skills with programs such as MS Office and Google Suite.

·        Experience in a variety of advertising mediums including print, broadcast and outdoor.

·        Experience in streaming media such as OTT, CTV and streaming audio

·        Exceptional time management skills.

·        Excellent financial skills and the ability to manage large budgets.

·        The ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a collaborative team.

·        Exceptional organizational and project management skills.

·        Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.

·        Ability to oversee, develop and mentor junior level media team members.

·        Advertising agency experience a plus.

·        Digital media skills a plus.
