About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our team at Royal Vopak. As a Process Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Lead and direct the development, training, and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to ensure a safe and effective response to emergencies.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to employees on safety-related matters.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders to stay informed on safety regulations and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, fire science, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in process safety, risk management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of process safety regulations, including OSHA, PSM, and EPA RMP.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

This position requires an employee to be in an office environment as well as exposed to outside elements. Most extreme elements are heat in the summer months of up to 100°+ and some exposure to cold of generally no less than 0° in the winter months. There will be exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of them hazardous. The employee may enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments. Employee must be able to wear PPE required by the location. General office noise may be experienced and louder sounds and vibrations when outside. All environments are safe with appropriate PPE.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, speak and hear. The employee is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee may be required, on occasion, to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may be required to climb ladders/storage tanks up to 50' in height. The employee may be required to enter confined spaces. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to travel by air, rail, bus, or car.
