Job Overview

Northpointe Behavioral Healthcare System is a Community Mental Health (CMH) organization dedicated to serving individuals facing serious mental health challenges, emotional disturbances, substance use disorders, and intellectual or developmental disabilities. Established in 1995, we have a rich history as a CMH that dates back to 1964, providing essential services through various settings including remote emergency services, school and home-based programs, as well as clinical and residential environments.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the role of Community Living Support Specialist. This position is available in full-time, regular part-time, or special part-time capacities. The primary responsibility is to offer support to individuals residing in a licensed residential facility, focusing on personal care and comprehensive community living assistance. The aim is to empower residents to achieve maximum independence, pursue their personal goals, and engage meaningfully within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • This job description outlines the essential functions of the position but does not encompass all tasks that may be assigned. Employees are expected to adhere to any additional job-related instructions from their supervisors.

Core Duties

  • Assist clinical personnel in implementing and documenting therapeutic activities as outlined in the individual service plan.
  • Safely transport and accompany individuals to various community engagements, ensuring proper procedures for loading and unloading, as well as seat belt usage.
  • Participate actively in staff and team meetings.
  • Advocate for and uphold the Recipient Rights of individuals.
  • Observe and document individual behaviors, including interactions, physical health, communication, and daily routines, to aid in the assessment and development of treatment objectives.
  • Provide appropriate interventions based on CPI training, whether verbal, nonverbal, behavioral, or physical.
  • Administer prescribed medications following successful completion of training.
  • Engage individuals in daily activities, adapting them as necessary to ensure full participation.
  • Assist individuals with personal hygiene, bathing, and dressing as required.
  • Record relevant data in the individuals' electronic medical records.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals, colleagues, and the broader community.
  • Support housekeeping and routine maintenance to ensure a clean and safe facility.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Adhere to protocols related to weather conditions.

Qualifications

This role is integral to supporting the mission, vision, and values of Northpointe Behavioral Healthcare System.

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a caregiving role is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license is preferred.
  • Certification as a nursing assistant is preferred (re-certification is required for compensation).
