About the Role

GFL Environmental is a leading waste management company dedicated to making communities cleaner, safer, and happier through exceptional service. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a vital role in maintaining our fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are in top condition to provide reliable waste removal and environmental services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair complex issues with diesel and CNG powered trucks, including engines, electrical systems, and fuel systems.
  • Lead inspections of brake systems, engine components, and other critical parts to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior mechanics, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Prioritize repairs to maximize efficiency and meet tight deadlines.
  • Oversee the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Complete reports, work orders, and other administrative tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and adhere to all safety protocols.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
  • ASE certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to interpret complex schematics and manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, customers, and external vendors.
  • Computer literacy and willingness to learn software systems.
  • Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
