MaineHealth Women's Health - Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our Gynecologic Oncology Division. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care, working closely with our physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver state-of-the-art surgical care and chemotherapy services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain complete medical histories and perform physical exams on patients as needed.
  • Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
  • Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
  • Administer medications and discuss alternative treatments with patients.
  • Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
  • Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Triage patient telephone calls, evaluate patient problems, and document patient information and care in medical records.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Provide patient education and monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Acute Care certification required.
  • Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure.
  • MSN required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional nursing experience.
  • Two-three years (2-3) of APP Oncology experience strongly preferred; one year (1) or APP experience required.
  • OCN or AOCN (Oncology Certification) within 1 year of employment.
  • RNFA (First assist in OR credential) within 1 year of employment.
  • Current BLS certification.
