Front Desk Specialist

Job Summary:
The Patient Service Specialist is a vital member of the Guthrie team, providing exceptional patient care and support in a fast-paced medical office environment. As a Patient Service Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, ensuring seamless patient experiences, and contributing to the overall success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide warm and welcoming greetings to every patient, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Answer telephones in a friendly and efficient manner, adhering to Guthrie's Telephone Standards.
- Schedule and maintain patient appointments electronically, verifying patient information and assigning B# / MRN to new patients.
- Register patients, reviewing and verifying demographic and insurance information, and scanning current insurance cards into the patient's confidential medical record.
- Verify patient eligibility for major insurance carriers, complete insurance forms, pre-certifications, and referrals as needed.
- Collect copayments, insurance deductibles, deposits, or unpaid balances at the time of registration, adhering to Guthrie Medical Group's policies and guidelines.
- Perform daily cash-out and balancing in accordance with the Patient Cash Control Policy.
- Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, hospital staff, and organizational departments, ensuring seamless communication and information exchange.
- Adhere to departmental and organizational policies, attending meetings and huddles as required.
- Prioritize daily tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a strong team structure.
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to patient health information, adhering to HIPAA compliance.
- Assist with and complete other projects or duties as assigned, participating in all quality initiatives established by the organization.
Requirements:
- High School diploma/GED required; graduation from a Medical Office Assistant school preferred.
- Demonstrated customer service commitment in a fast-paced environment, with a minimum of 1 year experience in a customer service related field preferred.
- Medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Comfortable with computers and learning new applications.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $16.00-$22.37 per hour.
