Position Overview:

The role of the GIS Technician is essential within our organization, representing our esteemed telecommunications brand and ensuring the provision of accurate GIS records. This role is crucial for supplying the necessary data and information to deliver products and services to homeowners, small businesses, enterprise clients, and carrier partners across the nation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Precisely manage the posting and pre-posting of Outside Plant (OSP) work orders to the master GIS and/or design files.
  • Coordinate the work order process with construction supervisors, OSP engineers, and property accounting.
  • Log work orders into the OSP/Job-Trac database.
  • Distribute and organize work order folders daily as required.
  • Execute drafting assignments of routine to moderate complexity, adhering to Windstream standards and practices.
  • Prepare layouts, drawings, and designs in accordance with engineering specifications utilizing CAD/E and/or GIS software.
  • Review engineering drawings and accompanying documentation to ensure compliance with Windstream standard practices.
  • Analyze design prints and collaborate with other departments to clarify details when necessary.
  • Display, modify, and correct existing GIS data using CAD/E software.
  • Examine final drawings to confirm completeness, clarity, and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to interpret GIS and engineering maps.
  • Familiarity with office automation tools.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills to prioritize and resolve issues effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet project demands.
  • Organizational skills to manage records and complete various administrative tasks efficiently.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of OSP network components and symbols, along with work order processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Prior drafting experience with GIS software, such as ArcGIS Pro or similar systems.
  • Understanding of personal computer hardware and operating systems.

Compensation:

The starting salary range for this position is $30,800 to $41,500.
