Job Overview

As a student currently enrolled in a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program, you will work under the guidance of the Respiratory Manager and alongside Registered/Certified Respiratory Therapists (RTs) to deliver essential patient care services. This role involves both direct and indirect patient interactions, as well as support in maintaining the necessary supplies and equipment for optimal operations. The patient demographic includes individuals from young adulthood to late adulthood.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with colleagues, visitors, and other personnel in alignment with the core values of Jefferson.
  • Execute assigned direct and indirect patient care tasks to fulfill patient needs.
  • Observe, enhance, and uphold a care environment that ensures safe and effective patient care, promptly reporting any changes to the RT.
  • Assist in the upkeep of supplies and equipment to guarantee efficient operational flow.
  • Perform cleaning, drying, and packaging of all non-disposable equipment for sterilization, adhering to infection control protocols and departmental policies.
  • Conduct pressure, volume, and EST checks on various ventilator models to confirm proper functionality and readiness for use.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Education:

Currently enrolled in a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program.

AND

Experience:

Successful completion of an Introductory Respiratory Care course, one medical-surgical or general medical clinical rotation, and the associated skills labs.

Employment Conditions

Due to the nature of this position, which involves regular interaction with children, candidates must comply with the Child Protective Services Act, including necessary background checks. Employment will commence only after successful completion of all required checks.

Additional Employment Conditions

Covid Vaccination is mandatory for employment at Jefferson for individuals working in clinical settings. Candidates not currently vaccinated must receive the vaccination prior to their start date unless an approved medical or religious exemption is granted.
