Position Overview:
As a Respiratory Care Trainee, you will be an integral part of our healthcare team, working under the guidance of the Respiratory Manager and Registered/Certified Respiratory Therapists (RTs). This role is designed for students currently enrolled in a CoARC accredited respiratory program, providing you with the opportunity to engage in both direct and indirect patient care activities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, patients, and visitors in alignment with the core values of Jefferson.
2. Execute designated patient care tasks to address the needs of our diverse patient population, ranging from young adults to seniors.
3. Maintain a safe and effective care environment by monitoring and reporting any changes in patient conditions to the RT.
4. Assist in the upkeep of medical supplies and equipment to support seamless operational efficiency.

Infection Control:
Ensure proper sterilization by washing, cleaning, drying, and packaging all non-disposable equipment for Central Processing, adhering to departmental protocols.

Equipment Maintenance:
Conduct pressure, volume, and EST checks on various ventilator models to guarantee optimal functionality and readiness for patient use.

Additional Duties:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervising RT.

Qualifications:
Education:
Currently enrolled in a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program.
Experience:
Completion of an Introductory Respiratory Care course, along with one clinical rotation in medical-surgical or general medicine, including successful completion of associated skills labs.

Background Checks:
Due to the nature of this position involving regular interaction with children, candidates must fulfill the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, which includes a Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, a Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse clearance, and an FBI fingerprint-based federal criminal records check. Employment will commence only upon satisfactory completion of all three checks.

Covid Vaccination:
Covid vaccination is mandatory for employment at Jefferson for individuals working within clinical settings. If not currently vaccinated, candidates must receive the vaccination prior to their start date unless an approved medical or religious exemption is granted.
