Job SummaryThe Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the blacktop plant's grounds and assisting in the efficient operation of the plant. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a safe and productive working environment while adhering to company policies and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Protect and Serve: Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures. Upon start of work, be prepared with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Mastery of Operations: Work in a hands-on construction environment, handling blacktop and other construction materials, shoveling, operating equipment, site management, etc.
- Preparation and Staging: Help prepare and stage materials, tools for plant maintenance projects.
- Material Handling and Storage: Oversee the handling and storage of raw materials.
- Plant Operation Monitoring: Follow Managers' instructions to monitor plant operation throughout the day.
- Communication and Teamwork: Maintain effective communication with other plant operators, supervisors, and support personnel using two-way radios and hand signals.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain proper care of tools and equipment.
- Workplace Safety: Climb ladders and work at elevations while maintaining safe work practices.
- Daily Workplace Exams: Perform Daily Workplace Exams of working areas. Clean and maintain the plant's work areas and equipment.
- Customer Order Processing: Efficiently process customer orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of asphalt production/crushing processes preferred.
- Electrical and Stick/Mig Welding experience a plus.
- Strong communication skills (both verbally and written), and the ability to work well in a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- A valid driver's license.
- The legal right to work in the U.S.
This role involves:
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Job involves sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and bending for brief periods of time in all types of weather.
- Regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate to employees/visitors.
