The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Lead Fiber Optic Installation Specialist. You will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing and troubleshooting complex technical issues related to fiber optic installations
  • Reviewing and interpreting various technical documents, including fiber cut sheets, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents
  • Terminating Uni-cam connectors and other mechanical fiber connectors
  • Making fusion splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations
  • Troubleshooting and repairing problems using optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier, Power Meter, and Fiber Scope
  • Preparing fiber optic cables for new enclosures, splice trays, and fusion splicing optic fiber cable ranging from single fiber to large count cables, including performing mid entries or ring cuts when needed
  • Accurately testing fiber (multimode and single mode) cables to required certification
  • Installing pulling cable, fire stopping, and pre-termination, including organizing, forming, dressing, and labeling cables to industry standards
  • Determining closet and equipment layouts and installing closet hardware, including backboards, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A high level of independent judgment within established procedures
  • At least 3 years of directly related experience
  • Certification as a BICSI Technician or similar certification preferred but not required
  • Ability to read, review, interpret, and understand technical documents
  • Ability to work varying shifts and hours, including possible overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Working knowledge of using hand and power tools
  • Ability to work respectfully with others and work independently
  • Ability to climb and work at elevations exceeding 18 feet (ladders, poles, lift trucks)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (attics, crawl spaces, utility holes)
  • A valid driver's license and ability to drive to office and job sites
