Job Summary

The Memphis Shelby County Schools is seeking a highly skilled Alternative Education Specialist to join our team. As an Alternative Education Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting students who have been identified as high-risk and in need of behavioral services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide counseling services to students, families, and educational staff to prevent disruptive and at-risk behavior.
  • Develop and implement behavioral services plans to support students in achieving academic and personal goals.
  • Collaborate with other District personnel to coordinate services and ensure a comprehensive approach to student support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including behavioral incident reports and progress notes.
  • Perform related work as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently and develop work methods and sequences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
