Behavioral Specialist

Memphis Shelby County Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Alternative Education Specialist to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing behavioral services to students who have been identified as being at risk for emotional/behavioral disabilities. This includes planning, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive services to support students in achieving academic and personal success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans for assigned at-risk students.
- Collaborate with teachers, social workers, therapists, and clinical psychologists to provide comprehensive support to students.
- Provide professional development and assistance to teachers to strengthen classroom management skills.
- Respond to crisis situations in a safe and caring manner.
- Conduct parent conferences and communicate with parents regularly.
- Perform clerical/administrative tasks as needed.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
