Role Overview
Our client seeks a proficient CAD Designer to join their design and production team. This role is vital for transforming creative concepts into tangible products, supporting the entire product development lifecycle up to mass production. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in product development, manufacturing techniques, tooling, and documentation, primarily utilizing a 3D CAD system.
Key Responsibilities
- 3D and 2D Design: Develop intricate 3D models, documents, and 2D drawings based on inputs from various departments, including product engineering, process development, CAM, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Tooling and Product Design: Create final product designs, tooling, fixtures, and comprehensive technical documentation to facilitate manufacturing and quality control.
- Manufacturing Process Development: Aid in the enhancement and refinement of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Material Knowledge: Apply knowledge of material properties, including metals, plastics, wood, tool steel, aluminum, and 3D-printed materials, in the design of parts and assemblies.
- Complex Assembly Design: Engineer moving parts and intricate assemblies, taking into account material and process tolerances.
- Prototyping and CNC: Familiarity with rapid prototyping and CNC manufacturing processes is advantageous.
- Information Management: Organize and manage digital information while interfacing with data management systems.
- Quality Inspection: Evaluate physical components against 3D models, generate deviation reports, and collaborate to address issues and enhance processes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in CAD Design, 3D modeling, and 2D design.
- Experience in an in-house manufacturing environment with a solid grasp of tooling and manufacturing processes, including quality control.
- Familiarity with CNC machining and programming, including toolpath creation and machine operations.
- Experience in smaller machine-shop settings, emphasizing precision and working under tight margins.
- Relevant industry experience in aerospace, medical devices, or similar sectors.
