About the Role:

As a Mechanical Engineer for Avionics Systems at Relativity Space, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical products within the Terran R avionics system. This includes electronics enclosures, vibration isolation, thermal management, and environmental protection devices. You will collaborate with electrical engineers to design robust, high-performance printed circuit board assemblies and perform preliminary sizing for static and dynamic loads and thermal environments. Additionally, you will utilize 3D modeling and 2D drafting packages to deliver detailed designs with considerations for production and test. Your designs will be validated for flight through rapid prototyping, analysis, and test campaigns.

About You:
-5+ years of experience in a full cycle mechanical design engineering role

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field
  • Experience with 3D computer aided design (CAD) software
  • Experience with structural and thermal analysis
  • Demonstrated project ownership and accountability with complex, multi-disciplinary technical projects

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience with design of electronic assemblies, batteries, and/or vibration isolation systems
  • Experience with finite element analysis methods and applied knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Proficient with NX/Teamcenter CAD package
  • Previous work on launch vehicle or spacecraft
