About the Role

Capital One is seeking a highly skilled Applied Researcher I to join our AI Foundations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and applying cutting-edge AI technologies to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that transform customer experiences
  • Leverage a broad stack of technologies to uncover insights from large volumes of data
  • Build and deploy AI foundation models through all phases of development
  • Engage in high-impact applied research to push the boundaries of AI and customer experiences
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders and drive business outcomes
Requirements
  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field, or MS with 2+ years of experience in Applied Research
  • Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and AI methodologies
  • Experience with large-scale deep learning models, including training optimization and self-supervised learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field, with a focus on NLP or related areas
  • Experience with large language models, including pre-training and fine-tuning
  • Strong background in optimization techniques, including model sparsification and quantization
  • Experience with compiler design and optimization
