Transformative AI Researcher

Capital One is revolutionizing banking with trustworthy and reliable AI systems. As an Applied Researcher I, you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge AI solutions that change the way customers interact with their money.

About the Role

Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that drive business impact.

  • Leverage a broad stack of technologies, including PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, and more, to reveal insights hidden within vast amounts of numeric and textual data.
  • Build AI foundation models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
  • Engage in high-impact applied research to take the latest AI developments and push them into the next generation of customer experiences.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced researcher with a strong background in AI and machine learning. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience building large deep learning models, including language, images, events, or graphs.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: training optimization, self-supervised learning, robustness, explainability, and RLHF.
  • An engineering mindset, demonstrated by a track record of delivering models at scale and expertise in one or more of the following areas: model sparsification, quantization, training parallelism/partitioning design, gradient checkpointing, and model compression.
