About Us
McWane Inc. has launched a new division, McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI), located in Birmingham, AL. This division consolidates all Plant and Industrial Products into a unified, customer-centric offering. Our goal is to simplify the process of engineering, specifying, and ordering components for industrial applications. We are committed to providing exceptional support for seamless delivery, cost-effective installation, and efficient start-up processes. Building strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams, and project owners is paramount to our mission of being the preferred supplier for both new constructions and future enhancements.

Job Responsibilities
CNC Machinists are responsible for operating CNC machinery, including lathes, vertical turning lathes (VTL), and mills. Key responsibilities include:
- Setting up, machining, and inspecting products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Maintaining production flow and adhering to quantity and quality benchmarks.
- Demonstrating productivity by operating equipment efficiently and completing changeovers promptly.
- Collaborating with the quality department and project coordinators to ensure product integrity.
Core Responsibilities
- Prioritizing personal and team safety in all operations.
- Assisting in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensuring cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Promoting the principles of The McWane Way.
CNC Machinist Duties
- Loading and unloading parts, as well as performing deburring tasks.
- Learning to read blueprints and use measuring devices under supervision.
- Changing inserts, adjusting tools, and loading accurate pre-written programs.
- Modifying basic G-code and operating both CNC and manual machines.
- Maintaining shop equipment and stock materials for daily operations.
- Exhibiting craftsmanship and a commitment to producing high-quality components.
- Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Inspecting parts using precision measuring devices.
- Recording production data and maintaining accurate count cards.
- Participating in additional responsibilities as needed.
Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and handle tools and controls.
- Occasionally required to reach, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift and move weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a CNC Machinist role.
- Participation in a CNC Machining program is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED is required; an associate degree in a technical field is preferred.
- Proficient computer skills are necessary.
Position Requirements
- Ability to meet physical demands, including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions.
- Capability to operate forklifts or overhead cranes.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required by business needs.
- Knowledge of industrial tools and their maintenance is advantageous.
