Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled LTV Test Lead to join our team at Leidos. As a critical member of the Lunar Dawn LTV team, you will play a key role in the design, certification, and delivery of flight hardware for NASA's next-generation crewed/remote-piloted/autonomous lunar surface vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Daily Insight into NASA Requirements: Collaborate with NASA to understand testing requirements, driving design and manufacturing decisions, and ensuring realistic testing scope and schedules.
  • Create Comprehensive Test Plans: Develop detailed test plans that align with program schedule goals, utilizing test personnel resources effectively.
  • Identify Dedicated and Manufacturing-Integrated Test Facility Requirements: Work with the AI&T team to determine the necessary test facilities and resources for successful testing.
  • Design and Define Test Simulators: Develop and optimize test simulators to execute testing in multiple facilities in parallel, supporting program requirements and schedule.
  • Reduce Program Risk through Government Task Agreements: Partner with NASA to utilize state-of-the-art facilities and Subject Matter Expert insights for early development testing.
  • Engage NASA's Human-in-the-Loop (HIL) Testing Expertise: Collaborate with NASA to plan and execute testing with various simulators, achieving a robust, crew-centric design.
  • Plan for Integrated Testing: Ensure tightly integrated testing at component and subsystem levels throughout the manufacturing and assembly process, tackling verification-by-test requirements early in the program.
  • Engage with Government, Subcontractor, and Customer Teams: Foster positive, collaborative relationships with teammates at all levels, including management, Safety & Mission Assurance, QA, and skilled trades.
  • Lead Test Readiness Reviews: Plan, document, and lead Test Readiness Reviews with NASA and Lunar Dawn Team members.
Basic Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering school or Master's degree with a minimum of 10 years' experience in Test Engineering, supporting NASA programs.
  • Experience: Minimum 12 years of direct Test Engineering experience or MS degree with minimum of 10 years' experience.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work in a team and develop cooperative relationships.
  • System Modeling Tools: Experience working with System Modeling Tools or supplying data to same.
  • Scheduling: Experience working with detailed schedules, creating dependencies.
  • Vehicle Test Design: Demonstrated experience with vehicle test design, planning, including mechanical system design experience.
  • Task Management: Ability to track multiple tasks and prioritize work independently.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivation and quick learner to adapt to the broad array of subjects and issues encountered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NASA System Engineering Requirements: Familiarity with NASA System Engineering requirements as needed.
  • Commercial Crew Design and Verification: Working knowledge and experience with Commercial Crew design and verification documentation and requirements.
  • NASA Standards and Practices: Working knowledge of NASA, ISS standards, practices, and requirements, including safety, fault tolerance, FMEAs, and unique disciplines.
  • CAD Tools: Experience with using CAD tools to open and manipulate CAD models or STP files in Creo.
