Lunar Transportation Business Unit

This role is part of our Lunar Transportation business unit, which is responsible for developing Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. Our goal is to create sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop flight instrumentation systems, collaborating with design engineers to understand and document their instrumentation requirements and interfaces.
  • Select, design, and test sensors for the fluids and propulsion integrated product team.
  • Engage with instrumentation suppliers to develop flight sensors and establish strategic relationships.
  • Write specifications, verification plans, and system safety artifacts for flight sensors.
  • Create mechanical and electrical drawings for sensor assemblies.
  • Plan and execute sensor characterization, verification, and qualification test campaigns.
  • Interact with internal and external partners to track instrumentation engineering development and ensure the release of installation drawings per schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or other relevant engineering or physics field.
  • 5+ years of experience in design, test, and operation of transducers for the aerospace industry.
  • Experience managing suppliers and projects from initial concept through production.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, with a focus on delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of NADCAP processes (welding, soldering, brazing).

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive salary range: $125,400.00-$175,560.00 (CO applicants) or $136,800.00-$191,520.00 (WA applicants). Other site ranges may differ. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
