Job Overview

Position Summary:

The role involves supporting new Section 8 voucher recipients in locating, touring, and securing rental properties utilizing their vouchers. Responsibilities include conducting interviews, evaluating various service requests, and managing hotline communications, while effectively liaising with applicants, tenants, landlords, and both internal and external agencies to ensure a smooth and efficient process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Service Requests efficiently.
  • Engage with applicants and external organizations to facilitate and accelerate the rental or transfer procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to hotline inquiries, assessing caller needs and providing assistance or escalating issues as necessary.
  • Act as the main contact for property owners, case managers, and voucher holders throughout the leasing process.
  • Address and resolve issues related to applicants and tenants.
  • Prepare and adjust payment processes as required.
  • Examine rental and transfer documentation submitted by voucher holders.
  • Verify compliance with rent reasonableness, building codes, HPD violations, the 40% rule, and prohibited owners.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate responses to all inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Occasionally accompany voucher holders to view available rental units.
  2. Interact with property owners or their representatives during apartment viewings, clarifying the Section 8 leasing process and requirements.
  3. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Comprehensive understanding of the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program and associated compliance responsibilities, including the regulations set forth by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
