Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Supervising Transportation Planner, the Senior Transportation Planner will play a crucial role in enhancing and refining standards, policies, and procedures related to complete streets. This position is essential for the effective execution of the Department's Deputy Directive for Complete Streets (DP-37) and will assist in the assessment and oversight of its implementation across the state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various functional units within the Department, including Planning, Design, and Maintenance, to seamlessly integrate complete streets initiatives into departmental policies.
  • Engage with external stakeholders through the California Walk and Bike Technical Advisory Committee (CWBTAC) to provide strategic insights and technical support for active transportation projects.
  • Contribute to innovative solutions in active transportation, including developing training materials for quick-build projects and enhancing the encroachment permit process.
  • Represent the complete streets team in multiple committees and workgroups, assisting in the revision of the Complete Streets Action Plan and the creation of resources for the Complete Streets Hub.
