Job Description

Position Overview:

We are looking for a proficient Electrical Engineer with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity to become a vital part of our team at Capstone - CRM. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, adherence to nuclear safety standards, and advanced cybersecurity practices. The ideal candidate will be tasked with the design of secure electrical systems, the implementation of effective cybersecurity strategies, and ensuring compliance with rigorous industry regulations to safeguard essential nuclear infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Engineer and develop electrical systems tailored for nuclear facilities, incorporating cybersecurity features to defend against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
  • Risk Evaluation: Conduct thorough risk assessments and vulnerability evaluations pertinent to nuclear electrical systems and control networks.
  • Incident Management: Spearhead the response to cybersecurity incidents impacting nuclear infrastructure, collaborating with internal teams and regulatory authorities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee that electrical systems align with cybersecurity mandates set forth by industry regulations and standards, including NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) guidelines and NERC CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection) standards.
  • Security Protocols:
    • Possess knowledge of nuclear plant security, both physical and cyber, and demonstrate experience in executing security protocols in accordance with the latest regulatory frameworks.
    • Formulate and update Physical Security Plans in line with regulatory stipulations.
    • Review and amend Safeguard Contingency Plans for regulatory endorsement.
    • Evaluate Training and Qualification Plans to ensure adherence to regulatory benchmarks.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with nuclear safety teams, IT divisions, and cybersecurity specialists to weave security solutions into electrical systems and address potential vulnerabilities.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation regarding system designs, security measures, incident response strategies, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Research & Innovation: Keep informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and technological advancements to continually enhance the security of nuclear electrical systems.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications in nuclear safety or cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of [X] years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on cybersecurity within the nuclear sector or a similarly regulated field.
  • Technical Proficiencies:
    • Expertise in designing and analyzing electrical systems specific to nuclear environments.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity tools, threat detection, and encryption methods relevant to critical infrastructure.
    • Familiarity with nuclear industry regulations, including NRC guidelines and NERC CIP standards.
    • Demonstrated experience with nuclear plant security, both physical and cyber, and execution of security protocols in accordance with current regulations.
    • Experience in the creation and revision of Physical Security Plans, reviewing and updating Safeguard Contingency Plans for regulatory approval, and assessing Training and Qualification Plans.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities with the capacity to address and resolve intricate security challenges in a high-stakes environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Certifications: Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Certified Ethical Hacker, CompTIA Security+) and credentials specific to the nuclear industry are advantageous.
