Human Resources Specialist

Job Summary:
Waste Connections is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our Western Region Office in Vancouver, Washington. As a key member of our Human Resources team, you will provide advice to leaders on complex employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and problem-solve to mitigate risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in projects and planning that support employee development and success.
- Coach and support field leadership with performance management issues, including coaching conversations, investigations, and progressive discipline.
- Advise and manage complex Leave of Absence issues.
- Provide administrative support within the HR department.
- Assist with integrating newly acquired companies and employees.
- Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs, and other people matters.
- Assist with planning and implementing strategic HR initiatives related to leadership development and culture.
- Provide training and informative presentations to field leadership.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2+ years in an HR role (or related experience).
- Knowledge of US employment laws.
- Knowledge of state specific employment laws, specifically; Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho and Nevada.
- Strong communication skills with proven success in influencing employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to travel up to 25% to the six Western Region states.
- Ability to remain confidential with sensitive information.
- Previous experience and proven success in an Administrative role.
- Interpersonal and organizational consulting skills, along with delivery and facilitation skills.
- Ability and skills to manage multiple projects and initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources (or related field) preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

- Competitive salary: $68,000 - $78,000 Annually.
- Bonus: 0-10%.
