Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Repair Specialist to join our team at the State of Rhode Island. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks to maintain our buildings, equipment, and machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Install and maintain plumbing fixtures, steam heating, and cooking equipment
  • Operate heavy equipment such as snow blowers, lawn mowers, and forklifts
  • Perform masonry work, including repairs to buildings, foundations, walks, and wells
  • Respond to after-hours facility emergencies
  • Perform other related work assignments as required
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience in building and plant maintenance work
  • Working knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and processes involved in several trades
  • Ability to make varied repairs without supervision
  • Ability to supervise a small group of helpers
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a military driver's license
  • Ability to obtain DOD certification for heavy equipment operation
  • Background check and security clearance required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with heavy equipment operation
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems
  • Ability to work from pencil sketches/diagrams
