School Nurse

Job Summary:
The School Staff Nurse is a vital member of the Akron Children's Hospital team, responsible for providing school health services to the student population. This role requires a skilled and compassionate nurse to deliver high-quality care and support to students, parents, and school staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides school health services as directed by department and contracts, ensuring the well-being and safety of students.
- Delivers clinical care, including routine, special needs, and emergency first aid, in a timely and effective manner.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date student health records, documenting services rendered and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participates in educational efforts, collaborating with the department and hospital to promote health and wellness initiatives.
- Communicates effectively with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel, fostering strong relationships and ensuring seamless care coordination.
- Demonstrates expertise in providing care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of students, regardless of age or background.
- Complies with departmental, school, state, and federal policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
- Performs other duties as required, contributing to the overall success of the team.
Requirements:
- Experience in a school setting is preferred, with a minimum of one year of experience in healthcare.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
- Certification: BLS certification is required, with Registered Nurse licensure also required.
- Years of relevant experience: 1 to 2 years is preferred.
