Job Summary:

The School Staff Nurse is a vital member of the Akron Children's Hospital team, responsible for providing comprehensive school health services to the student population.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver school health services as directed by departmental policies and contracts.
  2. Provide clinical care, including routine, special needs, and emergency first aid, within the department.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student health records and document services rendered.
  4. Participate in educational efforts, collaborating with the department and hospital to promote health and wellness.
  5. Communicate effectively with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
  6. Demonstrate expertise in providing care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients, regardless of age.
  7. Ensure compliance with departmental, school, state, and federal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  8. Perform other duties as required to support the team.

Requirements:

  1. Experience in a school setting is preferred.
  2. Experience in pediatric nursing is preferred.
  3. Experience working within a multidisciplinary team is preferred.
  4. Minimum of one year experience in healthcare is required.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.

Education and Experience:

  1. Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  2. Certification: BLS certification is required. Registered Nurse licensure is required.
  3. Years of relevant experience: 1 to 2 years is preferred.
  4. Years of experience supervising: None.

Work Arrangement:

Part-time position, with flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.
