Job Summary:
The School Staff Nurse is a vital member of the Akron Children's Hospital team, responsible for providing comprehensive school health services to the student population.Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver school health services as directed by departmental policies and contracts.
- Provide clinical care, including routine, special needs, and emergency first aid, within the department.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student health records and document services rendered.
- Participate in educational efforts, collaborating with the department and hospital to promote health and wellness.
- Communicate effectively with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
- Demonstrate expertise in providing care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients, regardless of age.
- Ensure compliance with departmental, school, state, and federal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as required to support the team.
Requirements:
- Experience in a school setting is preferred.
- Experience in pediatric nursing is preferred.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team is preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience in healthcare is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
- Certification: BLS certification is required. Registered Nurse licensure is required.
- Years of relevant experience: 1 to 2 years is preferred.
- Years of experience supervising: None.
Work Arrangement:
Part-time position, with flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.
