We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising employees in a highly technical sub-specialty area, overseeing all technical operations of the laboratory, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and train laboratory staff to ensure they possess the requisite skills and knowledge to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
- Monitor and supervise laboratory operations to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and quality assurance standards.
- Collaborate with laboratory leadership and clinicians to organize and prioritize laboratory work, aligning activities with the needs and objectives of the healthcare facility.
- Perform high-complexity tests essential for histocompatibility assessment and transplantation compatibility, including HLA typing, antibody testing, and crossmatching.
- Ensure the smooth operation of all tests conducted within the designated sections, monitoring the availability and functionality of reagents.
- Review data and scrutinize results to ensure accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
- Oversee the release of reports for tests conducted within the areas of responsibility, ensuring that findings are conveyed accurately and effectively to relevant clinicians.
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
- California Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist (CHS) license or equivalent.
- Lead/Supervisory/Manager experience.
- In-depth knowledge of the genetics of the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) system.
- Skilled in performing complex and specialized testing procedures.
- Experience in performing clinical histocompatibility testing.
- Maintains current knowledge of laboratory concepts, new methodologies, and advances in the field.
- Licensure in specialty area preferred.
- Maintains a tidy and orderly work environment.
- Proficient in both verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work independently with confidence.
- Proven track record of reliability and ability to multitask effectively.
