Key Responsibilities
  • Role Summary
    • The Electrical Engineer will conduct comprehensive research and evaluation of international systems to assist the US Navy in the design and validation of weaponry, countermeasures, and strategic methodologies.
  • Core Duties
    • Support the analysis and testing of electronic systems, including digital, analog, RF, microcontroller, DSP, digital forensics, and various sensor technologies.
    • Execute data retrieval using both invasive and non-invasive techniques across a diverse range of components.
    • Conduct forensically sound data extractions and evaluations of digital media utilizing industry-standard tools and software.
    • Perform RF assessments employing various instruments and methodologies.
    • Assist with X-Ray and CT scans of different components.
    • Reverse engineer complex multilayer PCBs to facilitate schematic development.
    • Contribute to the creation of intelligence reports by delivering clear and concise technical insights for non-technical stakeholders.
    • Develop schematics, block diagrams, and wiring diagrams, research commercial electronic components, analyze circuit designs, and document findings through photography.
    • Manage, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
    • Engage in training sessions related to laboratory capabilities.
    • Travel may be required to support laboratory initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Educational Background
    • Associates Degree preferred or a High School Diploma with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Experience
    • At least three years of experience in Electrical Engineering with a solid understanding of general electronics and laboratory environments, particularly in RF systems analysis.
    • Proficiency in software and/or hardware reverse engineering.
    • Experience with firmware and software.
    • Recent expertise with Ghidra.
    • Ability to generate schematics using tools such as Altium, OrCAD, EAGLE, KiCAD, or Diptrace.
    • Experience in circuit simulation and measurement using PSpice, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
    • Skills in micro-miniature soldering.
    • Demonstrated understanding of reverse engineering processes.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Preferred Skills
    • Programming knowledge in C/C++, Python, PHP.
    • Experience with software disassembly tools like IDA Pro.
    • Familiarity with AVR and ARM architectures.
    • Knowledge of software-defined radios (SDRs) and debugging tools.
    • Experience in digital forensics using tools such as EnCASE, FTK, X-Ways, OSForensics, or Autopsy.
    • Proficiency in CAD software like SolidWorks or NX.
    • CompTIA certifications such as A+, Network+, or Security+.
    • Familiarity with laboratory equipment including Logic Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and Spectrum Analyzers.
    • Possession of a Security Clearance.
  • Security Clearance
    • Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility may be required, and a CI polygraph could be necessary for access to specific IT systems.
