Job Description

Position Overview

The Construction Cost Analyst is responsible for forecasting and managing construction expenses by gathering and analyzing data, and executing comprehensive material and labor assessments for all commercial projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Examine project specifications to ascertain the scope of work and create a detailed cost estimate utilizing architectural blueprints, specifications, and selection documents.
  • Identify and assess cost components, including production timelines, raw materials, equipment, and labor costs.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and evaluate proposals.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers, engineers, architects, clients, and contractors to refine estimates.
  • Prepare detailed take-offs and bid proposals.
  • Track discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
  • Assess the cost efficiency and profitability of products.
  • Provide general administrative assistance, including processing correspondence, data entry, report preparation, filing, and copying.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant trade experience and knowledge, with a minimum of 2-5 years in estimating and fieldwork.
  • Familiarity with commercial construction and estimating methodologies, including reviewing and interpreting architectural plans, pricing materials, and finalizing job estimates.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Effective planning and scheduling abilities.
  • Understanding of project forecasting and projections.
  • Capability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with precision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is characterized by a well-lit, temperature-controlled, and smoke-free setting. The role typically involves extended periods of sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer.
