Position Overview:

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for delivering comprehensive estimating services for the Turnkey Self-Perform Concrete division within Colasanti Companies. This role encompasses projects of varying sizes and complexities as outlined by the Executive Management team. The Senior Estimator must demonstrate the capability to execute and oversee all necessary tasks related to lump sum and conceptual estimating formats. This position reports directly to the Division Executive and/or Head of Estimating.

Work Location:

Candidates must be located or able to commute to designated locations - Hybrid Role

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and execute all estimating functions for assigned projects, including but not limited to:

  • Utilizing and maintaining standardized project estimating templates.
  • Establishing each estimate and conducting precise in-house estimates for all relevant trades, including considerations for temporary facilities and seasonal conditions.
  • Thoroughly reviewing all project documentation, such as specifications, geotechnical reports, drawings, and contract conditions.

Collaboration with:

  • Accounting to ensure compliance with bond and insurance requirements during the estimating process.
  • Site Supervision to align on scheduling, methodologies, and site logistics.
  • Project Management for coordination on schedules, methodologies, staffing, and logistics during project initiation.
  • Executive Management for fee assessments, general conditions, and project challenges.
  • Self-perform Concrete Management Team to synchronize scope and project specifications.
  • Legal counsel for reviewing contracts and general conditions.
  • Subcontractors to discuss scope, pricing, product availability, and relationship development.

Additional Duties:

  • Maintain and analyze historical data to inform estimates.
  • Develop and sustain vendor bid lists.
  • Create project schedules and evaluate those prepared by others.
  • Foster relationships with General Contractors/CMs to promote repeat business.
  • Conduct productivity assessments, unit pricing, and man-hour evaluations for each estimate across all trades.
  • Prepare proposals and clarifications for contracts in collaboration with the Self-Perform Concrete Management Team.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, and necessary discussions.
  • Provide technical assistance to in-house and subcontractor teams in preparing discipline estimates.
  • Ensure all documentation and data are preserved to support estimate figures.
  • Assess all bids from suppliers and subcontractors for completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct cost analysis and explore value engineering options.
  • Support project team members during construction with scope and pricing inquiries as needed.
  • Lead project handoff meetings to operations.

Qualifications / Skills Required:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience as a Concrete Estimator in the commercial construction sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Bluebeam, and Building Connected (experience with Pro Est is advantageous).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture.
  • Extensive understanding of the estimating process.
  • Familiarity with project safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to relocate if necessary for daily operations.

Work Environment:

The work environment will vary from a well-lit, climate-controlled office to an onsite construction portable office, which may involve exposure to loud noises and extreme temperatures.
