About the Role

Savannah River Mission Completion is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of DWPF Vitrification Balance of Plant Operations Manager. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient direction of all facility activities while adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise operator activities and maintain sufficient supplies to support facility operations
  • Plan and coordinate work involving production and support groups
  • Review and approve all lockout / tagout plans for hazardous energy control which affect the facility
  • Ensure that facility activities are within applicable licenses and permits, and are conducted in accordance with plant procedures and Technical Standards/Operating Requirements
  • Approve the start of all maintenance, operations, construction, test and surveillance activities that affect the facility or its equipment
  • Ensure that operators are trained and qualified for their activities and are physically fit to perform the work
  • Communicate with other support organizations to ensure operating activities are started and completed as scheduled
  • Perform initial investigations of abnormal events, including the removal from service of equipment and systems as necessary
  • Direct emergency operations and train personnel in emergency activities
  • Perform periodic tours of the facility to observe activities and ensure they are being performed safely and in accordance with approved procedures
  • Identify housekeeping and facility material condition deficiencies to the appropriate origination(s) for corrective action
  • Act as primary mentor for operators (especially in the area of Disciplined Operations)
  • Maintain logs and records of all operating events in accordance with facility operating procedures
  • Maintain accountability of special nuclear material (SNM) through inventories, safeguards, and security and records management
  • Ensure that operators review changes to operating procedures and plant modifications
  • Perform Field Property Administrator responsibility for equipment inventories
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and relevant nuclear experience in engineering, operations and/or maintenance function
  • Additional information: Deviations to education and/or experience requirements must follow DOE Order 426.2 protocols
  • Facility qualification process including extensive classroom, formal on-the-job training, and oral board examination conducted by facility management must be completed within one year
  • Candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position level commensurate with their experience and qualifications
  • Experience working in nuclear facility/nuclear high hazard operations
  • Transitioning military personnel with prior experience in operations and supervisory roles are encouraged to apply
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree
  • Navy nuclear experienced personnel strongly encouraged to apply
  • Con-ops experience in Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard
