Ryder System is currently seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Harrisburg, PA. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties on our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $1120 per week, with opportunities for additional compensation through certifications and bonuses. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off, starting at day one.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty equipment. They will also possess knowledge of computer skills, including PC, Windows, and mouse navigation. The ideal candidate will be able to work unsupervised on most tasks and interact effectively with customers and drivers.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake, and tire work
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
  • Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines, including safety and DOT regulations

In addition to the above responsibilities, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in our Ryder Technician Recognition Programs, which reward top-performing technicians with cash prizes. We also offer a technician tuition repayment program up to $5,000.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification post-secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
  • All other certification as required by location, required
