Company Overview

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a skilled Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic to join the team at the Dauphin County Maintenance Organization.

This position involves conducting analytical assessments, preventive maintenance, and repair tasks for a diverse fleet that includes construction machinery, trucks, cars, and various hand tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel and heavy equipment
  • Detect and diagnose mechanical issues using specialized tools and techniques
  • Repair or replace faulty components as needed
  • Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulations

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment
  • One year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment
  • A valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • A Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

Additional Requirements

Please note that:

  • Employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period
  • Certain positions may require employees to possess a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment
  • This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations
