Position Overview: Technical Sales Consultant – Design Build

We are seeking a Technical Sales Consultant to become a vital part of our Design Build team. This role will be based in our Pittsburgh office.

The selected candidate will collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for estimating, proposing, and selling Design Build projects, as well as replacement solutions and other mid to large-scale initiatives within our established client network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Market and sell Design Build projects while engineering tailored solutions for repair and replacement initiatives among our existing commercial and industrial clientele.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and present, negotiate, and finalize contracts based on a deep understanding of client requirements.
  • Maintain follow-up on all leads and provide timely updates to both sales and operations teams.
  • Participate in client meetings alongside team members and engage in project discussions to ensure transparent and ongoing communication.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales Manager and other team members throughout the sales process.
  • Actively engage in the estimating process and review final proposal specifications.
  • Partner with other TUDI business units to deliver comprehensive MEP solutions, ensuring all contract stipulations are thoroughly understood and executed.
  • Review all contracts for precision and completeness, submitting finalized contracts to the appropriate operational and accounting staff.
  • Offer project management support to guarantee a seamless transition.
  • Participate in training sessions sponsored by the company and industry associations to enhance technical knowledge.
  • Document all sales and prospect activities in the CRM database to support weekly sales activity reports.
  • Achieve sales quotas and annual targets through proactive sales strategies and effective relationship management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) and have a minimum of three years of direct HVAC sales experience (or relevant sales experience in a related field), or seven years of experience as a field service technician (prior HVAC project sales may substitute for a bachelor’s degree).

  • Strong negotiation, closing, and networking abilities.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail with the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in identifying client needs, overcoming challenges, and crafting persuasive solutions.
